Berivan,15, jailed for eight years over 'terror' crimes at Kurdish rally
Kurdish Info - A 15-year-old kurdish girl who was arrested at a demonstration in support of a banned Kurdish group has been jailed for nearly eight years after being convicted of "terrorist" offences, including allegedly throwing stones at police.

Human Rights defender Ms.Filiz Kalayci was released
IHD - On 12th May 2009, four lawyers, Mr. Hasan Anlar (IHD Deputy Secretary General), Ms. Filiz Kalayci (IHD Executive Board Member), Mr. Halil İbrahim Vargün (IHD Former Treasurer), Mr. Murat Vargün (Member of the IHD) and Mr. Nedim Tas were detained and their offices and houses were searched by the anti-terror police. They were charged of “being a member of an illegal organization”.

Committee for Prevention of Torture Visits İmralı Prison
Tolga KORKUT- A delegation of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture from the Council of Europe examined the conditions of detention on the island of İmralı, where PKK leader Öcalan is imprisoned among five other convicts.A delegation of the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) initiated an examination of the conditions of detention in the F-type prison on the island of İmralı in the Sea of Marmara. Abdullah Öcalan, leader of the illegal Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has been imprisoned on the island since 1999. Another five convicts were brought to the prison two months ago.
