Attack on police patrol in Hatay leaves 4 police dead
ANF 27.07.2010-A police patrol in Dortyol district of Hatay province on the Syrian
border was attacked last night at 6 pm.While 4 police officers where
killed when fire was opened on the patrol car, shortly after the
security directorate building was also attacked with long barrelled
weapons. No casualties were reported in this attack.It is reported that
the police has detained 3 persons regarding the attack however; the
eyewitnesses stated that the detainees are the locals who failed to show
their driving licenses on the check point at the entrance of the town.
Kurdish Info - 24 July is a holiday for journalists in Turkey since censorship was
abolished 102 years ago today. Contemporary Journalists Association
(ÇGD) asked PM of Turkey that if he knows about 47 journalist who are in
prison for writing against government and 700 journalists as well who
are currently being tried due to the same ‘crime’. On the other hand, celebration of the Journalists’ Day generally seems
tarnished since no freedom of expression in Turkey, said head of ÇGD.
Rıdvan Kızgın, as known undounted activist for human rights, lost his
life because of long cancer. He had being treated in the hospital in
Diyarbakir since last year. He was chair of Human Rights Asociation
Bingöl Branch for years. There are 107 investigations, 67 lawsuits and
prison sentences for 5 years for Kızgın. He was also father of DIHA
reporter Rojda Kızgın. Kızgın’s funeral was held in Diyarbakı by
participation of thousands of loving including mayor of Diyarbakır and
various NGOs, trade unions, journalists, party leaders and members as
well.
Erol ÖNDEROĞLU- Employees of Günlük and Azadiya Welat newspapers, the Fırat Distribution Company and the Dicle News Agency (DİHA) released a press statement in the place of the Turkish Journalists Association (TGC) to draw public attention to the oppression they have been facing throughout the past couple of months when they were covering different incidents.
Ocalan:Mutual trust and a non-conflict term are the pillars for a solution
ANF 23.07.2010- The leader of PKK Abdullah Öcalan said he is taking the peace calls from NGO’s in the Kurdish region seriously. “However, creating a mutual trust atmosphere and declaring a bilateral cease fire are the prerequisites for peace. Everybody should act responsible.” added imprisoned Kurdish leader.

(TESEV) suggests more radical reforms than those in the reform package
are necessary to solve the ongoing Kurdish problem. “Towards the solution of the Kurdish Problem: Constitutional and Legal
Suggestions,” written by Dilek Kurban and Yılmaz Ensaroğlu with aid of
17 experts, suggested alternatives for every law they argued should be
changed.
16 year-old Kurdish youth charged with 45-year imprisonment
ANF - 16-year old Mazlum Ihlamur is in custody since he was arrested at a demonstration on 8 March 2009. He is charged with 45-year imprisonment within the scope of the case against Kurdistan Democratic Confederation, KCK. The father Hamit Ihlamur said one of his sons is at the army doing his
compulsory military service and another one is wanted because of a
pro-Kurdish demonstration he took part in. And 16-year old Mazlum. He is
already in prison.
ANF 22.07.2010-Saldik family went to Kurubaş village near Van city centre in order to have picnic together with their relatives living in the village.While the family was enjoying the whether and the nature, all of a sudden they heard shootings from Hacıbekir Garrison where was close to the picnic area.
