The struggle for prisoner Güler Zere, who lost her battle against cancer soon after her release while on the verge of death, has been turn into a documentary film named Güler Zere. During her sentence, Zere was neither allowed to receive a treatment nor released despite the advance of her disease and official reports that she needed to be treated outside.
Twenty five KESK (Confederation of Public Workers Unions) members and executives have been sentenced to a total of 156 years in prison. Among them are KESK General President Lami Özgen and Eğitim-Sen (Education and Science Workers Trade Union) Women's Secretary Sakine Esen Yilmaz.
Seventy six people on trial for attending BDP politics classes
Special Authorized İzmir Prosecution Office has sued 76 people including 30 detainees who were taken into custody within the scope of the operation targeting the BDP İzmir Political Academy on 22 September. Detainees are charged with membership of an illegal organization and spreading propaganda for an illegal organization.
European Lawyers call on PM Erdoğan to release colleagues
Lawyers around Europe are beginning to react against the detention of their colleagues in Turkey. The first associations to release a statement of solidarity and a call on the Turkish government were the Germany-based European Association of Lawyers for Democracy and World Human Rights (ELDH) and the European Democratic Lawyers (AED). The association called on Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President Abdullah Gül and the Turkish government to release the lawyers who were recently detained in the scope of the KCK investigation.
European delegation investigates use of chemical weapons
An international delegation from Europe visited the Kazan Valley in Çukurca (Hakkari) to investigate allegations regarding the use of chemical weapons by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).
Following the arrest of 33 lawyers in the context of the so called KCK (Kurdish Communities Union) operation, lawyers of Asrın Law Office will appeal to Bursa Public Prosecution Office on Tuesday to meet with Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan on November 30. Lawyers were unable to apply last week because of the seizure of all documents in their Office, following a police raid.
1,711 empty flats in TOKİ (Housing Development Administration of Turkey) building in Van raise a question mark in minds while earthquake victims have been doomed to die in summer tents. It is remarked that at least 10 thousand people could take shelter in these buildings which are still not put into use on grounds of small and unimportant deficiencies such as fire alarm.
