Kurdish Writer Mehmed Uzun Has Died
BIA 12.10.2007 Prominent Kurdish Writer Uzun, who lived in Sweden for a long time, died yesterday (11 October). His death is a great loss to Kurdish literature.After being treated for stomach cancer for a long time, Kurdish writer Mehmed Uzun died in Diyarbakir (south-eastern Turkey) yesterday. His funeral will be on 13 October.

AMED -11.10.2007 Author Mehmed Uzun, considered a founder of Kurdish literature, died of stomach cancer Thursday in Amed (Kurdistan) in hospital sources said. He was 54.Uzun, who spent 28 years in exile as a political refugee in Sweden.

Mexmur refugee camp grows, future remains uncertain
Kurdismedia-It takes less than an hour driving west from the relative safety of Hewler (Erbil), the administrative capital of the Iraqi Kurdish autonomous region, for a traveler to reach the provincial boundaries of Hewler and end up in the Mosul province. Lying just over this somewhat artificial but nonetheless very significant border is the city of Mexmur (Mahmur or Mahmour), which hosts a large UNHCR-administered refugee camp that serves as home for thousands of Kurds originally from Turkey, the first of whom were driven from their homes in 1994.
