SIDDIK GÜLER HAKKARI (DIHA 06/02/05) - Mukaddes Caglar, a member of Democratic People's Party (DEHAP), who claimed to have been exposed to police dogs' offense, has applied to Yuksekova Public Prosecutor's Office and complained the police who are responsible for controlling the dogs, after receiving a medical report she is unable to work a day.
While Mukaddes Caglar of DEHAP was going to Hakkari from Yuksekova, she was stopped on the police control point, at the exit of the county. She asserted to have been exposed to police dogs' aggression and harassed by police for not allowing male police to search her handbag. "The police wanted to look for my handbag after following ID card contorls. I told them 'there are my private belongings in the bag' and requested them to call a female police. Upon my demand, they made me get out of the vehicle pulling my hair and started teasing me. They set the dogs on me while harassing and the animals dragged me on the ground. The told while beating me that 'We know what business you are doing and will not let you work at ease so. We would kill and throw you on a side, and no one will hear of this'. They beat me for a long time. Afterwards, they put the passengers down, had me get up on the vehicle and drove me to the Yuksekova Security Directorate. Along 2 hours, some police came and told '' Our friends made a mistake. Let's close this case', but I did not accept" she said.
