Kurdish theatre' adventure of permission is carried to morality office

ANKARA 27.10.2004 -The adventure of the play 'Çême Şaş' wanted to be perfoed in Ankara by the theatre group named Nûpelda has been ended in Morality Office of Ankara Security Directorate. The Nûpelda keeping on their works under the roof of Mediterranean Culture and Art Center wanted to stage Kurdish play ''Çême Şaş''(Wrong River) in Ankara after Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa and Viranşehir. Organizer Fatma Okutan has applied to Ankara Governorship for permission .

Hundreds of Kurds protested Monday in Kirkuk to demand that the oil-rich northern city form part of Iraqi Kurdistan and threatened to boycott the national elections planned in January.
"The demonstration is a message to those who want to marginalise the Kurds and refuse them their rights," said a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) who was taking part in the demonstration.

The European Commission recently approved membership talks between the European Union and Turkey. It was a top-down decision. E.U. citizens overwhelmingly oppose the idea of Turkey joining their union. They fear Princeton historian Bernard Lewis may be right when he says that based on demographic trends Europe will be Islamic by the end of the century.

There is systematic torture in Turkey according to claims by the leader of the pro-Kurdish Democratic People’s Party (DEHAP) and human rights campaigner Selahattin Demirtas.

Both Demirtas, the head of the Diyarbakir branch of the Human Right Association (HD), and DEHAP Party Chairman Tuncer Bakirhan told representatives of the European Parliament Human Rights Sub-committee on Monday that systematic torture continues in Turkey.

Students walk 8 kilometer-way for their classes in winter and summer

MUÞ (DÝHA) -In Varto(dependent upon Muþ) the students of 8 villages who were not included in transportation system have to go on feet an 8-kilometer way to reach their schools,in town center.Students recorded that they in addition to rainy days especially in freezing days of winter were stranded and since there were no dormitory and refectory they waited as hungry untill 06:00 a.m.

Leyla Zana receives Sakharov Prize after 10 years delay
