HABER MERKEZI (DIHA) - JITEM (Gendarmerie Intelligence Service), which became fearless more and more and started directing narcotic traffic and living on exactions, did not limit its unknown murders merely with the opposing sides of the society. Those members of the Special Forces and JITEM or those personnel who had problems with the organization were being applied the same methods put upon the victims.

One of these people is Idris Yılmaz, whose body was set to fire by the Elazığ-Baskil highway after garroted and carried there in a sack.

How did JITEM kill its own man?

Name: Idris Surname: Yıldırım Father's Name: Musa Mother's Name: Hazal Birth Date: 1975 Birth Place: Uzungeçit Village, Uludere, Şırnak

Date of Being Disappeared: 1994

Idris Yıldırım, who provided secret information for JITEM for long years, was living in Uzungeçit village and is the son of a 10-member family having 6 daughters and 4 sons. Yıldırım, whose father was a merchant and passed away in 1998, became a village guard when the village guard system, developed against PKK, started being put into practice in the 1990s, worked as a guard for 2 years and collected secret information for the State at times. While the soldiers in Uzungeçit Village had to withdraw from the residence in 1993 for PKK expanded its field of action, Yıldırım continued to provide just information flow.

Being worried about PKK guerillas' frequent coming to the residence, Yıldırım had to leave Uzungeçit and take up living in the neighbor villages in periods of 2 or 3 months. Despite all pressures that his family and circle put on him to quit delation, he went on providing counter-PKK information for JITEM. Upon the reason that PKK guerillas warned him to forgo being an informant, he resigned his office and started to engage in border commerce on the Iraq-Turkish border; but, continued with being an informer system.

Yıldırım's relation with JITEM

Idris Yıldırım's brother Mehmet Yıldırım, who was also a village guard at that term, said he did not witness his elderly brother's relation with JITEM but some of his relatives saw him with JITEM members in Silopi, Şırnak. His sister's husband and other brothers had seen him conversing with JITEM personnel at the Habur Border Gate. Besides, he was being able to cross the border and turn back at quite ease though he did not have a passport, used State vehicles to go to Zaho and return. "Turkey was using Idris, that is to say, my elderly brother was bringing information from Iraq to the State. When I asked him whether he had been providing such information or not he denied and said 'Do not interfere me!'. We could not press for an answer. When we used to tell even the least thing, he would go home and did not use to come for months", said Mehmet Yıldırım. Idris Yıldırım went to Northern Iraq to see his elderly brother Nasır Yıldırım, who was staying at the Mahmur Camp that time, and responded to PKK's pardon call. This positve reply of Yıldırım's changed his life as well as the fate of the Yıldırım Family.

When the relation with JITEM terminates...

Yıldırm was imprisoned by peshmergas in Northern Iraq for an unknown reason and set free as the Turkish officials stepped in. Following his release from jail, he was taken into custody with his wife while passing through the Habur Border Gate. According to Sabah Yıldırım's (his wife) statement, they were brought to a place of JITEM's on the ground flour. Mrs. Yıldırım, stating she could not understand what was spoken as she does not know Turkish, said what has dwelt in her memory is the screams of her husband and that they were freed towards morning after a day in detention. Idris Yıldırım, who became anxious following this arrest, went to Diyarbakır to converse with an official of the National Intelligence Service (MIT) and stayed there 2 days; yet, turned back to Silopi not being able to talk to this person with whom he had got into contact while he had been an informer.

Idris was taken from the coffee house

Afterwards, Iris Yıldırm prepared here to go and establish in Iraq, and spent the night in his cousin's, Salih Yıldız, house in Silopi, Şırnak. Going out in the morning saying '' I am going out, and we will leave here when I have come back'' to his wife, Yıldırım, expected to turn back after a while, did not return till late hours in the evening; so her wife, Sabah Yıldırım, got worried about him and called Salih Yıldız to learn what might have happened.

Salih started to look for his cousin in the bazaar and went to the coffee to which house Idris had gone last for asking him. The owner of the coffee house told him Idris had come to his place, and then were made to get in a car by 4 people with radios who showed police passes. Upon this, Salih set out to ask whether his cousin had been detained or not but could obtained any answers, neither the Yıldırm Family, who also applied to the police post towards evening after they acquaint themselves with the circumstances.

Attempts of Mehmet Yıldırım

Mehmet Yıldırım did not hear anything from his elderly brother was not able to get authorization even to look for him. "Two days after Idris was kidnapped, I went to Şırnak Regiment Command to hold intercourse with an official over the fate of my elderly brother. I asked the official 'My elder brother had disappeared in Silopi. Have you got any word of him?' and requested him to have an investigation opened into the incident. 'We have not heard of the event, will inqure it', he replied. Then, I begged leave to go to Silopi but was not given permission by the official, who stated it might have been unfavorable to go and search him as I was a village guard. Not complying with his order, I did go there and asked an appointment to converse with an official at Silopi Gendarmerie Commandership twice; yet, could not grant a positive answer. I went to Silopi Gendarmerie Commandership on my own and told the story I am the brother of Idris Yıldırım, who had been disappeared in the county, adding he had come here, Silopi, two days ago. I asked to be informed of what might have happened, but they did not give any information to me. Then, I applied to Silopi Security Directorate.

The Yıldırım Family dissolved

Mehmet Yıldırım decided to see service a while after the case and immigrated to Adana resigning his post. Nasır Yıldırım, the most elderly son of the family who had been village guard in Uzungeçit, were thrown out of work, as the Yıldırıms filed an application to the Human Rights Association (IHD) after the confessions of Abdülkadir Aygan, JITEM member, were released in the press. Mehmet Yıldırım, who said there has been a great deal of several buzz spreading the death of his brother, could not find out any evidence and argued that it has been clear following Abdülkadir Aygan's confessions that Idris Yıldırım was killed by JITEM. Having applied to IHD Adana and Diyarbakır offices, Mehmet Yıldırım said; "We will not give up searching him. Whatever has come to us results from concealing the incidents. What we only want is this injustice's being finished. May God does not do anything like to anyone. My family was broke up entirely and we have been living this pain for 11 years. Whilst one of my elder brothers is in North Iraq, the other in Şırnak. I do not know what do they want from us?".Sabah Yıldırım gave birth to a son after her husband was abducted, established in the house of her family in Northern Iraq, and later married a man from Cizre, Şırnak.

Idris' mother Hazal Yıldırım (64), may is the most suffering mother owing to the pains she has been experiencing along 11 years; witnessing a dissolved family, having lost one of his sons and not being able find out the body of the disappeared son. Hazal Yıldıırm, who is in trouble in the triangle between North Iraq, Adana and Silopi, said: "It is cannot be thought that I will visit one of my sons while abandoning the other(s) to their fate. Each of them is in different places. My feelings hurt and do not how long more I will be able to live with this pain.

Aygan: He was burnt

Abdülkadir Aygan's confessions say, "This person was taken from Silopi to the Elazığ team. He was garroted; his corpse was put into a sack and set to fire by a small brook near the Elazığ-Baskil road. There were me, the chief of the group Kemal Emlük and members of the Elazığ Team
