Kurdish Info 15.12.2009- Police officers who attacked a protest injured 26 year old Hasret Yavuz by shooting him in the leg. In Amed 22 people including 9 children were arrested for attending protests. in Urfa 6 out of the 7 people who appeared in court were arrested.
After yesterday’s protests in Adana 50 people were arrested. Out of the
46 people arrested in Siirt 39 were freed without charge, of the 7 that
were arrested one of them is DTP’s city leader.
In Hakkari where the
protests have lasted for days, 7 people were arrested as a result of
house raids. In protest at the arrests shopkeepers in Semdinli did not
open their shops today. In the town of Cukurca shopkeepers also did not
open shops for the first time.
In Agri A. Aba and in Patnos N.
Kaldirimci were both arrested. In the town of Erdis in Van 9 people
were arrested and in Caldiran 4 arrests were made.
In Malatya 4
students were arrested. In the town of Umraniye in Istanbul the
Association of the free development of citizenship was raided and
documents were confiscated. In Aydin as a result of house raids 4
people were arrested.
Arrests in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey are continuing. Musa Ayhan who
was brutally attacked in front of cameras in Gever was arrested despite
suffering life threatening injuries. Ayhan was today sent to Hakkari
prison after appearing in court with 6 other people.
Ayhan’s lawyer
Davut Uzunkopru highlighted his client’s health condition. He stated
that Ayhan had several broken bones and that they will apply to the
higher courts. The police however are trying to cover up the story with
misleading information.
Despite footage of tens of police officers attacking and beating Ayhan
on the ground the statement from the arresting officer claimed Ayhan
obtained the injuries when he fell over. Atilla Noyan who was arrested
with Ayhan also has severe injuries sustained through torture.
In Istanbul it has been found that 15 year old S.M. and 12 year old
M.D. were beaten while being arrested. Despite both S.M.’s arms being
broken he was forced to sign a statement and was later arrested. 12
year old M.D. was released on condition of reporting daily to the
station.
