Kurdish Info 24.07.2008-Programm of Teatro di Nascosto Hidden Theatre in the Theatre Festival Volterra Teatro.Guided by Annet Henneman: In this seminar we will approach theatre reportage and the theme of our new production of this year: Women of the Middle East. We will try to get near to the life of several women who live in a situation very different from our own,
through music, movement, and improvisations. In a simple way the participants of the seminar will become part of the theatre reportage “Imraa, Jin, Xanman, Donne…”, that will premiere during the festival “Volterra Teatro” on the 26th of July.

Theatre reportage telling true stories of women of the Middle East

“When I was little I slept in the room where we did everything: eat, sleep, receive guests, do our home work… one was never alone. I felt protected, and while pretending to sleep I tried to listen to the stories told by the adults…Falling asleep the voices would come from farther and farther away… I would lie down wherever I could and I knew that they would cover me and let me sleep there, on the colored carpet which we had made with our own hands…

Now I am adult and life is not as simple anymore… Now I am a mother, married to a man I did not choose myself… I would like to tell you about it, to help you understand our life. But many times when I try to tell western women about my life, I meet with great incomprehension, or worse, with harsh judgments.

Our worlds seem so far away, but we are all mothers, daughters, sisters… I invite you to “our house”, and we will tell about our lives and serve you little delights, drinks… and we will tell…

The stories of the women of the Middle East meet with the stories of Italian women in a concert of folk songs with “La Tazza di Arianna” and some students of the Music Academy of Volterra guided by David Dainelli.

A short moment of study on the strategy for the Charta of Volterra and its presentation inside the European Parliament. Some MP’s and MEPs will be present.
