Kurdish Info 23.08.2008-Escalation of military operations has only resulted in the spread of clashes to the cities. DTP's joint leader Ahmet Turk has criticized the government for its continued use fo force to try to solve the Kurdish Question. He pointed out that military force had never solved the Kurdish Question but had only deepened the conflict.
The government should abandon barren policies of everlastingly beating the Kurds to stay quiet. Then violence will no longer be needed for the attaining of rights. "If you do not reverse these policies, you will never break the people's sympathy for the PKK. If you show no interest in solving the problem, you have no right to call people down from the mountains. The Kurdish question is Turkey's question and can only be solved by the democratization of Turkey. An atmosphere of dialogue must be achieved" said Turk, giving Britain and Ireland as an example and suggesting Turkey should create a similar model suitable to its circumstances.
