Maxmur residents demonstrate against oppressive pressure
Kurdish Info ANF 16.07.2008 –Maxmur residents have protested against the oppressive pressures of the Camp administrators and called for the UN to fulfill its roles and responsibilities. Hundreds of people walked from the Martyr Family Association to the UN representative’s office. Here the protestors carried out a sitting protest in which a dossier holding documents of the unlawful procedures put in place by the camp administrators.
Two people allegedly planning to assassinate a DTP Mayor have been arrested
Kurdish Info ANF 16.07.2008-Two people that are thought to have tried to assassinate the Democratic Society Party’s Dogubeyazit Mayor Mukaddes Kubilay have been arrested. The two people named Tarik Ciftci and Emrah Yaman had approached the Town Hall and after not being able to carry out the assassination in the building were arrested while trying to flee the area. Security officials have not stated which organization the individuals belonged to, however it is generally thought that the individuals were linked to religious extremists.
